Anyone taking Apriso?

I have been taking Apriso for over a month now and I am not sure how much it is actually helping. It has all these small granules inside each capsule and is supposed to work as a delayed release pill. It is a mesalamine drug used for UC. I have Crohn's colitis...I know I have several active uclers. And I swear I can feel these little granules get caught up in this one spot in my intestine. When I have a BM you can see these little speckles in my poo from the granules in the pills. I think my GI will think I am crazy if I mention it to him. But it is the exact same spot where I get a burning, stabbing pain if I eat things that irritate my bowels. How long should I keep taking this? I want to give it a fair chance to work.

I also have been taking this drug for about a month now. Well I see the same thing you do little granuals in my stools. I decided to ask my GI doc about that and they called the company and the doctors from apriso said that it's nothing to worry about. What you are seeing is what your body is not using and that is expected that you will see this. No worries there. If they get stuck in an ulcer they will eventually be absorbed. Anyways that what they told me. I am going with it. So far so good other that that. But the true test for me yet it coming down off the prednisone to see if this is really working will be the true test and where the rubber meets the road for me. Everytime I try to come off prednisone I start to bleed and have lots of mucus and pain. More that normal that is because I always have left side pain. Hope this helps. Wishing you well.

I have been on Apriso since November of last year. Prior to that, I had decided to take myself all meds...dumb idea. That's when my health went south, quick! My doc put me on the Apriso because it's only 4 pills once a day instead of the 12 I was taking when on Asacol. Unfortunately, the Apriso did not do much for me because I was in the beginning stages of a bad flare. I eventually had to go on prednisone, and when that didn't work, I was prescribed Cimzia. But throughout all of that, I stayed on the Apriso. Sunday was my last day of Pred and life is good. My GI wants me to continue the Apriso along with the Cimzia. I've never had any complaints with Apriso and no side effects to speak of. I too have noticed the specks in the stools, but I'll take that over the red urine from Asacol. Ugh, that stuff stained my toilets so bad! I've also had pains but I'm sure it was because I had active disease and not so much from the drug itself.

Hope you get to feeling better real soon!

Thanks!
The red urine sounds pretty annoying. Reminds me of being on Phenazopyridine, for urinary tract infections...makes your urine bright orange and stains the toilet too.
I am going to keep taking Apriso and hope that is starts working soon.
