Apologies - for the record I am not an NHS basher! I know I am really lucky to have outstanding treatment from one of the most reputable hospitals in the country. It has to be said though that the system can be frustrating as I'm sure has been discussed ad nauseum on this forum. Some frustrating realities:
Waiting for an appointment with the consultant and occasionally being seen by a "newly born" doctor on rotation with little knowledge/interest in the ins and outs (so to speak) of Crohn's
Knowing that an operation will restore quality of life and that spending £10,000 would make it happen in 2 weeks
asap can mean a wait of up to 16 weeks unless an emergency admission happens before that. This waiting time can have devastating consequences on health, work and personal lives.
These realities are probably irrelevant for many but I just thought them important enough to be mentioned...despite being a fan of the NHS...honest!
