So i got a letter the other day to say i was going in to hospital on friday for some investigative surgery plus a colonoscopy .Needless to say i was both excited and a bit concerned since my doctor hasnt spoken to me about this . So i phoned the hospital this morning and was put to the consultants secretary. aparentley they are going to put a camera in close to my naval to have a look around and more than likely take out my appendix . I do have a lot of pain in that area but in the past they kept saying well its not your appendix or things like your not toxic.

So have any off you had this done , does it improve things. Im guessing that because they got my results back from all my tests that they have made a decision on something.
Any advice or experience on this would be appreciated.
Peter

They removed mine during my resection to avoid possible future complications (kind of a "might as well while we're in here" sort of thing). Unless you've got some sort of emotional attachment to that particular organ, it shouldn't be a problem.

In the US, most doctors won't remove your appendix unless it is inflamed...most insurance companies won't allow it. However, it is essentially a throwaway organ and you shouldn't notice any downside if it is removed. Mine was removed at the time of my colectomy and I did have big pain relief deep on the lower right side very noticeable from before surgery, and my appendix was not obviously inflamed or have any other signs that indicate appendicitis.

Hopefully, if they do remove your appendix, it will bring you relief as well!

Thanks 2thfairy
I have been told that i will get relief from this even if it is not inflamed. That would be so good. My own doctor told me some time ago that they would not take it out in case of adhesions but what is the choice I asked him ,to have pain everyday or have a chance of some relief.
The way i look at i, Im on medication all the time so lets give it a chance.
Thanks Peter
