Ds is currently on Entocort, Mtx, Apriso, and Folic Acid. He is passing little white dots in his poop. I suspect it's either the Apriso or Entocort. Do you think he is absorbing the meds even though he is passing the capsules bits? It kind of looks like he ate a pile of sprinkles.

I think you need to ask your doctor about this. She can tell you for sure. And the question really should be is he responding to the treatment? Because he might only be absorbing part of it but still be getting benefit from it.

I'm not familiar with Apriso but if Apriso is formulated the same way as Pentasa it is a large capsule with little beads inside it. With Pentasa you will often get the husk of the bead passed in the stool so it looks like you aren't absorbing the medication when in fact you are. Just the outer coating of the bead doesn't always dissolve completely so you see some in your stool.

This could also be what's happening with the Apriso. It releases the medication when it reaches a certain part of the intestines where the pH is a certain level.

Both are delayed release so it's possible neither are being absorbed. Definitely think you need to discuss with the GI.
