hey all,
i am wondering if anyone else has certain times of day that are normally worse or better in terms of their symptoms. for me, in the morning when i wake up is the worst time for D (overnight i normally wake up once or twice, and then in the morning it's several times before i can get out and head to work, which makes me arrive late more frequently than i'd like to). nighttime is usually worst for pain for me, which is actually the most "convenient" time for it since i can take pain meds and get in bed. anyone else? just wondering...

I usually dont start feeling bad until about 30 minutes after i first wake up, then things get to be the worst right before I go to bed.

i also need a nap in the late afternoon/early evening most days...oh, how i savor those naps!

When I was in a really bad flare, just after I was diagnosed, I too felt terrible in the morning. I also had problems with D and urgency, resulting in me having to change my start time at work to ease the pressure a little. Pain was definately worse for me in the evening also. All this changed once I had my crohns under control and things are totally different for me now. I have to say though, I still need the afternoon naps, this is one of the reasons I haven't gone back to work yet.

I've never been a morning person, and sometimes I just don't want to get out of bed in the morning. The pain and running is usually the worst for me in the morning.

Hey karly.. My 'D' outbreaks were worse in the AM too... but I think (in my case) it made sense.. While sleeping, blood would pool up in my colon.. then exert itself like an enema.. As for pain, I associate it with various activities.. Taking my meds typically result in pain approx 90 min later... but since I have to eat prior to meds, it may be the food.. But, if I miss a med, or a meal, I still get the pains anyway. Go figure.. The worse pains are at nite.. why? I dunno. Seems every illness or ailment gets worse at nite.. Asthma, allergies, colds, you name it. Medical mystery

I had some pain and the big D this morning. I ate a particularly big supper and then had a couple of bowls of cereal in the evening so I probably deserved it.

I also did not take my self prescribed doses of Turmeric and Ginger the entire weekend and most of Monday due to a wiring project that kept me away from home. This is the first time I have experienced pain since surgery. I am not going to skip my routine anymore.
I hope this means that it is working but I cannot be sure.

Mornings are the absolute worst for me. I can't even think about functioning until I've been awake for 3 or 4 hours. Late afternoon is when I do all my doc appts and shopping. Before then, forget about it. I'm either laying on the couch, still in bed, or in the bathroom. And you best not mention breakfast to me either. Then I'll puke. Ugh!

For me, it all depends on when I eat. If I eat a meal at night I will feel bad and have symptoms in the morning. I try to eat my largest portion of the day, which isn't that large, 4-5 hours before I go to sleep. This causes a little more pain in the evening, but if it helps me pass something before going to sleep, I feel better in the morning. My pain is fairly consistent lately. When I go to sleep, I have to be laying in the right position, or the pain is so bad I can't sleep.

my symptoms have gotten a lot fewer, but i sometimes have issues in the morning. this makes sense though. our digestive systems more or less sleep when we do. they continue to break down food, but do not push anything through the system too much while we slumber. so when we wake and get into gear for the day, our digestive system does the same.

I, as well as my stomach, don't like mornings either. But when I'm on lots of pred, they make me sweat a lot about four or five hours after I've taken them, which I absolutely hate.

Mornings are my worst time too,Seems soon as I take my first drink of coffee it's off to the bathroom for at least 4 trips.Nitetime,i'm usally exhausted, sore and in pain.
