Since my flare up peaked this month after 11 months of progressing symptoms, something new showed up. Constant knee pain, burning, discomfort. Is this related, do you think? I know it is for Crohn's, but I am only 17... I don't know.

Its possible it can be related, hopefully its just knee pain and will go away. I have both Crohn's and Ankylosing Spondylitis, which is like arthritis which I got when I was 18. I was told both diseases are related. The pain started in my ankles and then in my back and now I am joint pain all over. I am taking Enbrel which works well to treat it. Get it checked next time you see your physician, but like I said, hopefully it's nothing and will go away. Everyone gets aches and pains from time to time.

I had arthritis in my hands when I was your age (had this disease since I was 14). It comes and goes but it is never as bad as it was then.
It can also be related to medication.

I get joint pain, especially in the knees and hips, when I'm flaring. It usually either goes away or lessens when I'm not flaring. So hopefully for you it's just a flare thing too and will be gone soon. Try taking a short walk if you are up to it, moving around usually helps ease my joint pains. Taking a hot bath usually helps too.

That was one of Roo's symptoms that nobody linked to Crohns. When she had her op and went into remission the knee pain also went away.

Dusty. :)

Yeah Shannon everything is related! This you will find as time goes on! Even the plukes on ya chin!
Because you're obviously in a flare with inflammation, this will manifest itself in other areas, such as big joints like knees. When your inflamm has eased a bit, so should the joint pain.
Just don't take any NSAIDS!
Cat's advice is good, hot baths and keep moving!

Sounds like me! I actually had it today for the first time in awhile. Sometimes I have to wear a knee brace or take tylenol. When I can't do either of those, I have to suck it up and just deal with it. It sucks though :/

Welcome to our forum. You will find here the nicest people who deal with similar symptoms and willing to listen and give advice.

Joints pain is a common occurrence for crohn's.

In my case, Once I got on Remicade the joint pains subsided, but lets hope that your join pain will go away.

Ahh the heating pad and hot baths have been helping. Thanks for the welcomes. :) I'm hoping, like everyone said, that this will subside in brighter days. Between the bloatedness from the Pred and the knee problems, I have been bonding so deeply with my recliner. :p

Oooh that would explain some things.

I swear I'm also like you and swear I'm coming across with Arthritis...but I do a lot of contact sports, and weight lifting so my doctor always blames it on this!

joint pains

Last night I was laying in bed resting on my arms looking at emails on my phone for a few minutes. Went to lay down on my side then felt burning pains in my joints, specifically elbow and shoulder blades. Took me for a loop! I was wondering why my CS had asked me about arthritis. I never thought in a mil years I would get any symptoms like this. Well, was laying on my side for a while still looking at my ph, set it down and when I rolled over had a darn burning pain in my knee. It lasted for a while.. And I'm hoping this doesn't happen again! I feel fine now, well my joints do. So maybe it will be ok. Idk. Scared the heck out of me though. Since finding out about CD so fast and already having surgery I'm wanting to run a 5k when I'm better and eventually a marathon.
Sorry about the long post! :) I just had to add that this surprised the heck out of me.
Best wishes to all!!

I get terrible pain too, whether I'm flaring or not. I've been reading a book about IBS (which, I know, isn't Crohn's, but I can't help but feel like all this stuff is related) and the author says that there is a huge overlap between fibromyalgia and IBS. Seems like it's a pretty common complaint!

Yeah, fibro is auto immune as well. My mom was just diagnosed with that AND lupus. It seems like if you're lucky enough to pull autoimmune from the bag, it comes in multiples! Here's to singular disease!
