Today I got my first b12 injection. I'm going to get them everyone month from now on. I was advised to get them because the portion of bowel that absorbs vitamin b12 was removed so it makes sense. If and when should I feel anything from taking the injection?

Thanks, Thomas

hi Thomas :) i've been having B12 injections for years, 3 monthly, and have recently changed to 2 monthly because i felt i needed them sooner.

i've heard varying stories from different people with B12 deficiency.. some don't have any symptoms when the next jab is due, and don't notice any benefit afterwards, but many of us do!

i always know when my B12 is low, because i get an unnatural wearyness (on top of my usual tiredness), also tingly hands and feet, and occasionally dizzyness with or without a headache. within 24 hours of my injection, i'm feeling more energetic and the symptoms just disappear.

I haven't had B12 injections for a while (still take it orally, but my levels are high enough that I don't need the shot)...but I don't remember any unpleasant side effects fromt he shot itself... gained some energy which I thought was a good thing...lol....

I definately know when my B12 is due, I start to get forgetful and feel a different kind of tired than normal, just a bit blaaah really.

After my jab, which does hurt I start to feel lively again by the next day or so.

Hope you feel the benefits :)

Interesting, I think that's why I have these odd grey hairs, I researched it and it's due to lack of B12, and I've had an operation too - but I'm not sure if I had the part removed which absorbs B12.

Can't you just get multi-vits with B12 in it?

bobby, if you take b12 orally is doesnt get absorbed because of the missing bowel.

i have mine monthly, and fell no better or worse than i did before.

I have been getting b12 jabs for the last couple years, originally it was meant to be every 3months but I only make it to about 2months before I need it.
I get a different kind of tired (as others have mentioned) a kind of tired you can't push through and carry on, it's like you totally run out of energy so you have to stop. And you feel like that all day every day until you get your b12 fix.
I find it kicks in by the next day!
