baby foods

I seem to be able to handle fruit if it's organic baby food mix. I guess the fact that it is heated and pureed makes it easier to digest. How much fruit is in one of these things? Like a baby apple sauce, is it like a full apple, half, two apples?

Erythritoal

Does anyone know anything about the natural sugar erythritol and whether it is good or bad for crohns?

I have no idea about your questions, but I do know I had baby food during my worst flares to get some nutrients in me - it was a lot easier to keep it down than a lot of the other food out there.

It may be a trigger food for you. I would try staying away from them, then reintroduce slowly. I know it was recommended to me by my GI and nutritionist back when I was first diagnosed to eat baby food as it was easier on my system - it proved true for me. Hopefully you get better soon.

I tried that many years ago baby food and pablum, my flares were that bad. Then my gp said it has way too much salt and sugar it is for babies not adults.

My mom actually try to get me to eat baby food...smh
Fiber makes you go, remember that.
I'll just say stay away from it and eat adult food. Its that or nothing is how I look at it.

I was eating baby food last week after a couple of weeks of liquid diet. I found I had to read the labels, as with any food, and that some of the baby veggies were very high in fiber. Personally, did good with the meats, sweet potatos, cereal, and a couple of the dinners, all of which had no more than 1 gram of fiber. But all of us are different. Good luck!

Don't know about the advisability of baby food & IBD, probably depends on the food you choose, but for things like equivalence, you might look on the USDA National Nutrient Database Using the word "apple" as an example, they list everything from whole apples, to scores of apple based baby foods, cereals, juices, pie fillings, etc., which you can compare. Good source of info.
