Morning everyone!

Today is my first day back at work and i'm a little nervous!
Have been off now for 2months after having a bowel resection!
One thing ive noticed since the chrons first started to become noticable was that i'm getting really tired later on in the day.

Now since i went off work things have changed and my usual shift has been changed from working 7am to 3:30pm to working 2:30pm to 11:00pm.

Now like ive said ive been really tired on the night times, i dunno what it is ive tried changing sleeping patterns but im always super tired later on in the day which was never a problem as i was on early shifts at the time.

Will my work be able to swap shifts or should they try to accommodate me a bit better post surgery? has anyone else noticed this?

Many thanks

Hi, Zegermens.
It has been a few days since your original post. I hope all is well with you and that you have been able to work the later shift or that they switched you back to the earlier shift.
I have not had any CD related surgeries, so I cannot help you specifically with your question. If you have more questions, try reposting and let us know where you are living. Big difference between the different states if you are in the US and big differences between the states, the UK and Canada and many other places.
Hope it has worked out for you,
Michele

Hi Zergermens, and I hope your recovery continues to go well. I would check with your employer to see if they can help you out with adjusting your shift until you are feeling 100%.

If you are in the US and your employer has over 50 employees, you may be eligible for FMLA or something like that where they need to make special accomodations for you.

Good luck - Amy

I just went back to work after a Hartmanns proceedure,(stoma and bag!) and I'm shattered at the end of the day. I hope they are trying to accomodate your fatigue, which is NORMAL after the proceedure you've had! This is a MAJOR surgery you've had and fatigue is just one of the things we have to deal with. Experts say its 3 months before you will feel 'normal' again. I hope your employer will accomodate you??

Hopfully they can reinstate your regular day shift. Those hours would have been very hard for me 2 months after my surgery. I was in bed at 9:30 every night.

Talk to them and I hope they are understanding. It's hard enough recovering from surgery without this big change in normal working hours.

Hey many thanks for the replys, sorry its taken me so long to get back on here!
My internet has been down for a little while, work have been ok actually.
They have set me on early shifts rather than flex shifts doing 13hours which is good :)

@Amy - Im from England, not sure if there is anything which i can ask for in future over here but if im truthful i dont think i'll need anything. Since i have went back to work ive been living my life as normal.

I went to see the gastrorentroligista few days ago and he was saying that its my choice if i want medication, im feeing fine at the moment so a little unsure. He also said he wants me to go for a camera to check my large intestine. This is all booked for the 31st of this month. Does anyone think this is too soon after my op to be poking around with cameras?

thanks
