Hey all. I'm new to the forum but looking for any advice. I am in the middle of a bad flare up. I was tapering down prednisone when it happened and got off rowasa enemas. I'm am now back up to 40 mg of prednisonr, metcapurtorine, asacol, and hydrocortisone enemas but nothing seems to work. I have left sided uc

The meds that have the strongest effect are generally the immunomodulators like mercaptopurine and others or the biologics like humira, remicade, Entyvio, Cimzia. There are other new experimental drugs showing success but these are the big guns for now.
Does the mercaptopurine take longer to work? The rowasa enemas seemed to be effective but were so expensive I tried and an alternative route and was prescribed the hydrocortisone enemas but they dont seem to be working. Also has anyone seen asacol to be ineffective? Alternatives?
