bagels

i had an everything bagel yesterday, ok 3 lol. they were mini bagels. anyways, im kinda having pain now and feeling nausea. do you get effected by bagels?

also, how long does it take for this junk to go through our systems?

I stopped eating carbs like that 3 to 4 weeks ago and feel so much better, usually you feel better the next day or so depending on your system, sorry you dont feel well

PNP, I hear ya.
I cut out white flour and never felt better.

hippie, bagels, allbeit, plain bagels, were one of the only things I could eat before I stopped eating them.
I miss them :(
Not sure if an everything bagel was the best idea, duh, I guess your aware of that now...lol

I did the South Beach Diet once and they say that sourdough is good too. I love it! Not high fiber, but better than white bread for you I guess.

The onion/garlic might also be contributing to the pain you are having. Usually they put onion and garlic in an everything bagel.

It might not have been the bagel, onions and garlic will kill my belly, not to mention the poppy seeds and sesame seeds that are usually on the verything bagel. Also, what did you put on it?
I've been eating a bagel every day for lunch at work for the past 2 weeks, either with cream cheese or soft cheese or peanut butter. They've been treating me okay.

Sour dough bread also has no yeast, so maybe that makes it better for us with Crohn's !!!

Sourdough bread actually does have yeast(s) -- just not the traditional commercial yeasts.

Here's a Canadian Press article I believe Pen is referring to...

"Whole Wheat" and "Whole Grain" are two different things, apparently. I'm shocked to find this out. "Whole Wheat" starts out as white bread with (some of) the germ and bran added back in, while "Whole Grain" I'm guessing maintains it's compositional integrity with all parts of the kernel.

Canadian government website

Guess reading labels is a good idea.

I imagine too that all sourdoughs are not created equal and that there's a difference between mass-produced and what you'd find from a local craft baker.

Alternatives to white flour?

If you cut out white flour, what do you eat - my impression is that all the non-white flour alternatives are high-fibre foods, and generaly considered to be unsafe(?)
