Biggest decision I need to make

I have an appointment with my consultant next month when I have to discuss if I will go for a reversal of my colostomy. I have had it a year and have not had any problems with it except for the fact that it is right on my waistline and this makes it very uncomfortable.
Getting a colostomy was due to complications from another surgery so it was a massive shock.
He did say last time I saw him that it would be a very difficult procedure and that the outcome may not be great as he may have to take the remaining part of my large bowel away and I will only have my small bowel left. This could lead me to need to go 4 or 5 times a day and he did say that I may have 'accidents'. Has anyone's else had a reversal?
I am going to ask if it is possible to move it down a bit as that may be the best option. Has anyone had this done?
Thanks

What was your decision?

I'm in a similar situation now, trying to figure out if I want to try a temporary colostomy to see if it helps, or just go all the way and have a good chunk of colon removed.

I'm 35, have lived with Crohn's for 20 years, and it's all isolated into the last 20-30cm of my colon.

Hi, sorry Sully1102 I didn't notice your reply. I had my appointment with the consultant. Last year he was all doom and gloom about a reversal and tried to put me off, this time his opening line was 'we have to get this reversal done'. I was like wooooooahhhh. What will the outcome be and he confirmed that I would likely have to 'go' about 5 times a day which I wouldn't have a problem with but that I would have 'urgency' in going. He is sending me for tests to see what is left of my large bowel (at my bum end) but said that they would have to remove what is left of it at the other end and it may be as little as 10 minutes warning before I would have to go. This would leave me a prisoner in my home as it can be a 50 drive home from work. Not to mention travelling on holiday etc. To cut a long story short unless it is unexpectedly good news back from the tests then I am going to stay as I am, it's not ideal but I can go anywhere and do anything I want really. The only thing I have to cope with is a bag, being incontinent would be soul destroying I think. Thanks for yor responses.
:)
