I had an EGD yesterday and was told I had bilious fluid in my stomach (which was drained), duodenitis, and mild erythema (I'm guessing redness) visualized throughout the procedure. Is this comparable, or resemblant of Crohn's?

Gosh, I really don't know what terms they use to describe Crohn's in that area....It's definitely not a normal finding. Your doctor didn't talk to you or a family member after the procedure?

Not sure if it is a Crohn's thing, but I for one have had a lot of florescent green
bile pumped out of my belly before. Whenever I obstruct. I would be curious to
know if it is only a Crohn's thing also. It looks pretty alien when it comes out.
Kind of radioactive.

I had my Gallbladder taken out about a year ago.

I remember the doctor talking to me, but unfortunately I was still 'out of it' to remeber anything he said. He would've been better talking to the wall.

I have had my gall bladder out too, are you on Nexium? What other meds are you on? I have been dx with a Hiatus hernia, my guess is from the Prednisone, it used to scorch my chest!

Sounds similar to a result from a endoscopy I had last month. My GI found ulcers just past my stomach and inflammation. She said Crohn's there is the hardest to treat. She also sucked out some bile which she said was unusual seeing how it was 9am and I had fasted since the night before. Either way, my problems seemed to get better after some Cipro, Flagyl and Pred.

Many of us take bile sequestrants...Like Questran. It binds the bile and reduces bile salts diarrhea..Here is a link, but there is tons of info out there about this.

Do this symptoms sound similar to yours?

Yea, I thought it was quite weird as well since I had taken HalfLyely for the procedure (should have flushed me completely out). And nothing to eat or drink 8 hours before procedure and a lot of bile was seen in the stomach.

I have tried Cholestryamine before for the bile acids, but just like Immodium, anything like that seems to make it worse.

Yes, I think it's a Crohn's thing. I had plenty of bile in my stomach during my four-month stint in hospital. It kept vomiting regularly, and had to have it drained via a tube in my nose.

Without a Gallbladder to control the release of Bile, the Liver just randomly dumps bile whenever it feels like it. Doctors do not seem to inform the patient of this before they remove the Gallbladder, but it can cause problems since you get Bile when you don't want it, and do not have enough when you need it.

My wife has had her Gallbladder removed, and I bought her some activated Charcoal to suck up some of the bile ingredients in between meals, if her stomach acts up. I also bought her digestive enzymes with Ox Bile to help break down fats when she eats.

Now if I could just get her to take them when she should.

Definitely a Crohn's thing. I still have my gallbladder and I have a few "bile" episodes a year. Each one is the same and I have learned I just have to ride them out. Taking painkillers, gravol doesn't help at all. That just postpones the inevitable.

I've been reading then that ulcers/inflammation around the pyloric valve causing it not to function properly can cause bile to back-track into the stomach.
