I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease three weeks ago and the doctor started me on prednisone 30mg daily. Before I got diagnosed the only symptom i had was diarrhea one time a day every morning.I did not have the urge to go to the restroom more than this one time. I had a little bit of bleeding then but I was suffering from a haemorrhoid at the same time.
After I started the cortisone my stools went back to normal, or really close to normal. I did not have any episode of diarrhea the last 3 weeks except maybe from one time that it was not exactly diarrhea but looked more than soft stools. In general diarrhea has disappeared and everything looks ok.
My only issue is that since my colonoscopy and my diagnosis, after i started with the cortisone i see bleeding every day with my morning stools. It is not a lot, usually a bit in the toilet and some on the tissue and it is bright red in colour. Sometimes, i feel a little bit of a razor like itch (like the one you have with a haemorrhoid or a fissure) but it feels like the bleeding comes internally. My C reactive protein levels also have gone back to normal thank god!(they were elevated four times above the normal level before my diagnosis and before i started taking prednisone).
I talked with my GI and he did not seem concerned about it. I am posting this thread so that i can get your input guys since here in this forum there is a lot of experience around.
