I've been losing some blood lately but yesterday I lost what looked like a fair bit. In fact I felt it spray around the toilet pan. Felt a bit tender down below but not the normal Piles pain or Fissure sharp pain. And my gut is feeling pretty tender. And today I went for my pre colonoscopy appointment & they told me my BP was low. I started to think I was bleeding internally & made an appointment to see my GP.
A thorough inspection & its a fissure but its located inside as opposed to a surface crack/tear.
As unpleasant as they are its a big relief, I've been using Rectogesic(GTN) for the surface ones to great affect but the Dr has given me Colifoam for this one as getting the GTN where its needed is very difficult.
Phew, Panic over.

Terriernut, obviously I meant that compared to internal bleeding a fissure even though its inside is easier to treat in comparison. Thats why I'm slightly relieved if you get my drift.

Following on from my 1st post the Colifoam seems to have worked a treat, until today. I passed a cherry sized blood clot. No other blood just this clot. Could a fissure create a blood clot??
Be grateful for anyone's opinions. Think I'll ring my specialist nurse anyhow. never ever had that before.

Update. Specialist Nurse advises me the clot was almost certainly from the fissure, which has been bleeding again. :ymad:
She's also advised me to carry on for now with Colifoam & if no success try some steroid based suppositories. Lovely!!
But the best bit & this had me LOL was she told me of a new treatment for fissure's that involves injecting Botox into it. Apparently had great success with it. I just found the whole idea funny but hey if it comes to it I'll have a wrinkle free bottom.:ybiggrin:

Hi Grant

I sometimes pass small clots from internal fissures. As for the Botox, I had a treatment in 2008 and it did work really well. I'm due to go into hospital in October for another treatment as I'm struggling again. Fingers cross it works as well as last time, it's lovely having a wrinkle free bum lol!

Pleased to hear it worked Seaside Di, its amazing what they think of. Last two days have been good-no blood loss @ all. I'm having daily baths as opposed to showers & I'm hopeful things have healed.
