Dr's office left a message on my machine saying my bloodwork came back neg. for Colitis. That is all they said. I tried to call back but the office is already closed. Not sure what this means? Is it something else? I go for my scope in 2 weeks so I may just wait and talk to my GI myself.

Hi paticake and welcome to the forum. I hope you find the support you are looking for, I sure did. the people here are so helpful

I regards to your test. Thats a good thing the test came back neg. Try not to stress out about the "unknowen" we all have done that and the stress is no good for us.

You will find out what the problum is and you will get better soon, Keep you head up, I find that if I do that I even feel better.

You have a valid question and your doctor should explain exactly the meaning of that message.
I have not heard of any blood test specific for colitis.
There are different types of colitis so exactly what are they referring to.
Do you know which blood tests were done?
The tests that come to my mind are the inflammatory markers,CRP and ESR---do you know if these were done?
Even so some people with IBD do not have raised values with these tests and yet have proven IBD.
If your scope is only two weeks away it could be a better move on your part to ask the GI directly.
In the meantime try not to worry about it.
The scope is the gold standard.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

thanks for your support! I had a IBD workup? and a Promethis (sp?)test.Have had (issues) and diveticulitis for several years. My mother and son were both diagnosed in the past 2 years with Crohn's.

Promethius tests are about 50/50 accurate. Definitely have the colonoscopy.
