Anyone have any suggestions to what kind of blood tests I should get? I think I saw a thread somewhere about some specific ones that we should get to keep up with stuff.
I have been on Aza for about 8 months now and I'm getting a total blood count, ALT, ALK, and some PLI count which is for liver and pancreas monthly.
What other ones should I ask for specifically? I know a bone density test is common but ya you know what I'm trying to get at.

Oh and I would ask just my regular doctor not my specialist while I'm in getting my b12 injection.
Thanks -Thomas

I get 'U and E' occasionally, that is urea and electrolytes and checks kidney function. ESR and CRP are useful for checking inflammation, white blood cells are useful on aza to make sure your immune system isn't too suppressed. The docs also keep an eye on my ferritin levels, since I have had problems with iron deficiency.

I get a U every now and then too. I have had problems with Ghoutlike inflammation for years. The AZA seems to have taken care of that and probably the improved diet as well. But my family doc keeps and eye on it to see what exactly is going on for good measure.

My kids get checked for:

FBC - Full Blood Count (Checks the counts of all white and red blood cells).

LFT's - Liver Function Tests (As the name suggests, it checks your liver function).

UEC's - Urea, Electrolytes and Creatinine (Checks renal function).

CRP - C Reactive Protein (Inflammatory marker - Acute).

ESR - Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (Inflammatory marker - Chronic).

If the bloods are only drawn 3 monthly then I also have them checked for -

Iron Stores (Ferritin)

Folate

B12

HTH, :)
