Hi, I had small bowel resection Feb 16th, got home the 21st and I feel pretty good! Prior I had 2 spots where my small intestine was melting to my skin, causing a fistula like drain, but there was no canal between the two, just growing together and draining on the out side of my body, and had an abcess in the same area in OCT. I felt terrible before surgery but now it's crazy how good I feel! Overall the experiance was great! Troy Beaumont hospital in Troy Mi is a great place to get this done! All the RN's and NA's were awesome! Most of the NA's would touch my hand when they were taking blood pressure or injecting pain meds! just little things that holding my arm did a ton for me to get on the road to recovery. My question is, has your abdomin regained its shape? I know there is some swelling, but their is 2 flat spots on both sides and I wonder if that will go away? I know its cosmetic, but it does look odd! Thanks Billy

I am glad that your surgery went well and that you are feeling better. I had a different surgery than yours but I know what you mean about the tummy going back to a normal looking tummy. I was just happy that everything went well for my 3rd surgery because I wanted it so bad. The doctor who came in to check on the wound and to change the dressing was hesitant at first to show me what it looked like. When I saw his hesitation and him telling me that maybe I should not look now...I told him I do not care as long as I am fully together again and I heal up right. Over time it changed so much that I do not care what my scar is....I had to get cotisone shots from a dermatologist because the scar and tiddue underneath was too tight and hard...but I call my scar my unique marking!!!

Thanks, I am really just happy to have made it threw surgery and on the road to recovery, the tummy issue is just something I was wondering about, but really I feel so much better even 9 days out! I don't care about the scar, its from my BB about 5 inches down, so really on the small side. I was in remmision for years, until the abcess! so now I should be good to go for a while! hopefully!
