Has anyone's kiddo experienced a burning sensation in their abdomen? My son (who has been doing wonderful and growing for the past year!) has complained several nights about his entire tummy/abdomen area burning inside....he says it is like a heartburn feeling inside?? I called the Gastro and thought he would want to see him....but he just said to buy Prevacid and following dosing instructions.....am I crazy to be worried sick??

It's quite normal to be worried sick! It's worth trying the Previcad first for a week or so before becoming really alarmed. If the burning still keeps going then phone back and try to get an appointment. Hope it settles down.

Yes, I have acid reflux and sometimes it gets so bad it feels like everything in my middle burns.

Hi Farran7. Were you able to try the Prevacid yet? Has it helped him at all? Sometimes people can notice a difference within 24 hours but other times it may take a few days for it to start working. Hope he's feeling better. :)

Thank you for the replies...this was a new symptom for him...and I, personally had no idea that acid reflux could effect someone in their tummy? We are trying the Prevacid...no change yet. Do you think this could be the beginning of a flare? or an ulcer of some sort?

I would definitely talk wtih your with your GI. Burning tummy for us did not mean flare - it was something my son ate (or for me, I also get it and I'm a nonIBDer and it was food related).

I pray it is nothing!

Jack had the burning in his tummy - always said it was different from Crohn's pain, GI put him on Omeprozole 40/mg day and that worked for a while. Seems to be food related for him, soda is a big no-no because he always ends up with acid reflux after.
