Shared misery is half misery, aye?
Alright, immediate change of tone. Howdy all. I stumbled over the forum during a Google search a short while back, and it's fair to say that I've missed something alike it. Sure, I don't have a problem discussing it with friends and family, but since I don't know anyone else diagnosed with Crohn's or UC, there's precious little space for sharing experiences. Hence my arrival.
To briefly define the ever-illusive "me" in this equation, I'm a 22-year-old university student from Sweden, currently residing in Scottish Glasgow where I study Politics and spend my days like most university students: reading, going to gigs, getting drunk and stupid, chasing life kicks and girls, and trying to make something of my life. I was diagnosed with Crohn's in the summer of 2009; tragicomically enough all my symptoms started to arrive immediately after my first festival trip, meaning everyone -- myself included -- assumed it was something I'd eaten. Well, one and a half week without eating later I was sent to hospital, where I stayed for two weeks in a slight microcosm. Since then, save for some initial anemia, I've been blessed with fairly mild symptoms.
Have been on Azatioprin/Imurel and Asacol all since the beginning, and looks like it'll continue that way, at least till the former decides to kill my liver. I'll deal with that when the time comes.
Cheerio,
Lucidor
