Sooo, I was wondering what is the situation regarding that test "worldwide"? I know that until recently, it was not available for us under the public system in my province. It's new that I can have it done and it is under a specific program that is sponsored by a pharmaceutical company in collaboration with a university research team. Well, this was the situation until a few months ago and I assume it has not changed as of now.

What is the situation for you? Is it a test that is frequently used? Is it easily accessible?

I just posted in another thread that my son gets one every 3 months right now but I think if the results normalized and he continued to have no symptoms it would move out further or not be utilized unless symptoms arose.

We receive our order from the GI and then just deliver the stool and order to the lab on the week the order was written for. We do it about two weeks before my son's GI appt/remicade treatment since it can take that long to get the results back.

It is easily accessible here and becoming used more often. I'm in NY so we do have access to cutting edge IBD tests and research. I don't know how accessible it is elsewhere but think its gaining traction.

My son has had one (normal) and will have another at 6 month mark (July) if that one is normal as well then once a year.
My hubby has never had one, blood tests every 3 months and scopes every 3 years.
The ped GI seems to be more into research and what others are doing, told me they are joining some world health organization to find out what is common on what other countries are doing to treat IBD. Hubby's GI is pretty old school and goes by what he has always done, which fits the hubs as he is pretty old school
