Can a tonsillectomy lead to Crohn's?

Hi there,

I'm 29 years old, recently being reviewed for Crohn's and ulcerative colitis after a few weeks in hospital.

I'm thinking back to events on my past and cant believe I didn't think about it before now. In August 2012 I had a tonsillectomy after suffering chronic tonsilitis and ulcers since my early teens. One of my tonsils developed a tumour and both looked like huge strawberries constantly.

Since then, only a handful of sore/painful episodes in the throat. But I would really appreciate knowing if anyone started suffering symptoms who's had their tonsils out in adulthood? Just over 2 years on and I'm bed bound with crippling abdomen pain and diarrhoea. So thought I'd google, I've found something to kinda back up my theory but first hand experiences would be valuable. Xxx

Um I am undiagnosed - But had tonsils out 2 years Before d started...Wow!

I've read a number of IBD books written by doctors since those articles were published and its never been mentioned.

Is it possible? I guess. A number of things go into triggering crohns.
