Hi

I have had this weird symptom since being diagnosed. Anything made with pepper or any type of slight spice is magnified. The normal foods I eat, I cannot anymore due to everything tasting really hot and spicy to me. Has anyone else experienced this?

Anything's possible.
Some medications can throw your whole system out of whack, any steroid will cause a change in the hormone balance, and those can mess with so many things. Another thing to keep in mind that Crohn's can manifest anywhere in the GI tract, mouth included, it could be making you extra sensitive.

The disease manifests differently in everyone, when mine was active I could eat the worst most unhealthy things possible, but I had very specific and almost random foods to stay away from. I could down greasy fast food that would make healthy people sick, but if ate pizza from one specific chain, I was done for.

I've had a similar thing in the opposite direction though. I've never been a fan of spicy, however since I had my colon out and things are under control. I've been wanting to increase the heat factor on way more things.

That makes sense, but no, I have not had any change in my medications. It's not only spicy food but salty foods also hurt my mouth. It's like sharp pain. I am wondering if it might be a vitamin or mineral deficiency or if it's the Crohn's?
