I think i am doing what i can but for those who have had way more experince then me.....

since i dont have that official dianogsis yet and am not recieving treatment what can i do for myself to help with the symptoms???

I was up last night several times taking gravol casue i was nauseous and had bad gas pains, or i think it was gas.

then this mroning, lots of BM some D pain in my tummy and still nauseous.

I have taken gravol, probiotics and tylenol. I havent taken any nexium yet.

I can manage a few bites of Cream of wheat which seems to be the one food that i can be guaranteed doesnt hurt me.

Oh and i have a heat bag on my tummy.

Is there anything else i can do for myself??? I do have T3s but am so scared they are going to constipate me i dont use them unless i have too....

Suggestions? or have i done it all? i cant think of anything else to do. I am laying curled up on the couch hoping i can sleep and that will help.

I really want my GI appt and some real meds!!!!!

Wind pain is a usual symptom for many.
I find the best treatment is to fart it out...
Find out what food caused the gas and stay off it.
Try excluding wheat or dairy from your diet and see how you go.
If you smoke - stop
Drink - stop
Junk food - stop "including chocolate".
Fibre is good to relive constipation however, if you have too much of it, it can have an opposite effect.
Drink lots of water, keep a food diary and you will be able to manage.

I have done a gluten free diet in the past without much change and have also excluded dairy.

I know now that i can eat some dairy without much effect it seems. And on other days i could drink the whole cow without problem.

I dont smoke, i do drink but not regularly and i dont eat junk food the odd bit here and there .

i did have some white chocolate yesterday and i am now thinking that perhaps that was the culprit.

the cream of wheat has been good for my tummy and seems to be helping. I still feel as though i have had a bout of the flu and am very tired. I always drink water and rarely anything else.

I dont smoke. although there are days.......

White chocolate is just sugar. There's no cocoa in it (not that I've ever heard cocoa being bad to begin with, its never bothered me and is an extremely mild natural pain killer, or at least works as a placebo ;) ). Lots of people on the forum smoke but if its kept in moderation, well its not causing nor keeping you in a flare. Its an irritant/stimulant for sure but I'm sure you avoid it anyway when you know you aren't feeling well enough to do it.

Try small and more frequent meals, whatever you can tolerate and increase your fluid intake. I take T3s as needed and have never had any trouble with constipation (I don't even drink enough fluids on a regular basis). They are very mild so if you're concerned about constipation then increase your fluid intake and you should be fine. Wont take away all the pain but does help to relax you for a bit until you get some better treatment. When is your appointment or do you not have one yet? You could try calling the office to get the appointment sooner by saying you're in a lot of pain, have more diarrhea along with not being able to eat regularly and nausea.

Perhaps it wasnt the white chocolate i dont know. I coudlnt think of anything different i ate.....but maybe it was something i ate too much of.
I dont smoke, maybe in all honesty once or twice a year if with friends who do. I used to years and years ago so sometimes the feeling is there. But I havent had a puff in ........cant remember the last time. So i know that isnt it.
I have cut way back on my driking. I have noticed some drinks bother me and some dont. So i slowly experiment to see. I am reading to see what others say as well about food and drinks and everything and trying to see if it applies to me as well.

I will get temporarily constipated with the T3s....normally for a half day....then it all lets go. I do find i have to watch how many i take at times. Which sucks as they do take the edge off.....but i dont want to make matters worse. I do drink a lot of water so i know i get lots of fluids. I average about 8-9 glasses a day.

I will try and spread my meals out. I do find i have a hard time doing that. I like to eat at set times... but will try harder.

I dont have a GI appt yet, in fact i dont even KNOW who the GI is. I just got a referral a few weeks ago and my colorectal surgeon didnt say who it was with, and stupid me didnt ask. I was just frustrated that a almost 3hr drive to see him resulted in no more information then what i already had and a less then 5 min appt. And then i was getting shoved off to yet another dr.

I am going to see my GP next week and see if she can find out more info for me and possibly something different for pain.

thanks for all the advice everyone.

Can you contact the referral office or person who handles referrals to try and speed up the process and find out who you're being sent to? Once you have that information you may be able to call the office and say that its an emergency and that you need an appointment very soon. Or find out who the third party is (if there is one, usually an insurance company of sorts) that's holding up the process and then give them a call to speed things up.

yep i can do all that through my NP . I find she usually gets results faster then me!! she is good at that!!! i will go see her next week.

I feel good today. I am amazed but i do. Almost NORMAL!!!! although the fact that i ahvent had a BM all day kinda makes me think tomorrow is going to be a blow out....but iw ill worry about that, tomorrow!! :) I am going to enjoy it while i can.

have you looked at your diet? i was constantly bloated (even with all the meds i was on) then i cut out wheat and it stopped in a few weeks, you need to be persistant with it though, mine took a good 3weeks to turn around, i guess my system had to clear everything that was in it. But i do eat gluten, there is a huge difference between wheat free and gluten free, some people do the whole lot but i found wheat free does enough for me. i hope this helps. its a hard road being undiagnosed, but sounds like your dedicated to helping your body, keep it up :) xx
