If I take some chicken tissue, boil it in water and add hydrochloric acid pills, will that hydrolyse it and will it be safe to eat?
I'm having so many problems finding an appropriate hydrolysed protein that I'm thinking of doing it myself.

Thanks

Just a thought since I don,t understand why you would self medicate with acid pills, why not make plain old chicken soup shred the chicken and run it through a blender with a lot of veggies well cooked, healthy, nutrious and got to taste better than your suggestion.
Is your doctor aware your having dietary issues, could be worth a call to your clinic nurse.good luck

Hello Chlorinated
Welcome to the forum
The straight answer would be No--to making your own, dangerous and inadvisable.
For more than you probably wanted to know about glutamate vs. glutamine and their metabolism, try these articles and papers:

Glutamine: The Essential “Non-Essential” Amino Acid
Ivy Greenwell, LE Magazine, September 1999

J. Nutr. April 1, 2000 vol. 130 no. 4 978S-982S
Intestinal Glutamate Metabolism
Peter J. Reeds, Douglas G. Burrin, Barbara Stoll and Farook Jahoor
.
Glutamine is a hydrolysed protein which can be purchased in drugstores and health food stores.
The hydrolysis of protein is usually prepared by manufacturers on a large scale but it is not something to be attempted by individuals.
Your methodology would be most unsafe and not likely to achieve your objective.
Better eating the chicken with some veg to make a nutriitous and tasty broth, which boosts your immunity.
Do you have GI issues such as IBD?
In such a case it could be doubly inadvisable to use your methodology.
Hope this helps to answer your question.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes
