I've just seen this. Not sure if anyone else has posted about this already (sorry if that's the case) but thought it was very interesting.

I had a lot of antibiotics as a child due to tonsilitus and ear infections.

The other part that I found very interesting was that the British newspaper that published a story on it confused IBS as IBD. Typical eh? ;)

Typical indeed! There was another article (in the news section) where the newspaper confused IBS and IBD. No wonder Joe Public (or Josephine) thinks that Crohn's is just a bad case if IBS.

Anyway, on the subject in hand, I had repeated ear infections as a child, so I did have antibiotics a few times. But I think my bowel problems may have been present even before then (an elimination diet found a sensitivity to milk, since being treated for Crohn's I no longer have this problem).

This is not the first time I hear about this.
I wonder if there is any child who hasn't ever been given antibiotics during childhood.

I was given antibiotics on numerous occasions, but I think my crohn's developed as a result of some kind of infection 8 years ago. I was silly not to stop smoking back then. Now I'm facing surgery and I don't even believe it will help much...
