For those who have seen my other posts, I did not have an abdominal strain. I ended up having an intestinal Abscess and inflammation in my terminal ileum. Six inches to be exact. The GI hasn't done a colonoscopy yet, but, have had an endoscopy and two CT scans and has put me on prednisone 30mg for about a month now and I get my second infusion of entyvio tomorrow.

We haven't decided if I have scar tissue buildup or active disease. But, I feel like the prednisone really isn't working, because when I eat I get some sharp pains, crazy burping, and problems with gas, that last for hours and of which is an issue every day... And has been for the past four months.

Although, I notice, that if I am constantly chewing mint Gum, my pain levels decrease drastically. I don't know if this is the work of a stricture, and me chewing gum constantly keeping my GI tract going, which would then force stuff through, allowing the blockage to not creating as much of a problem. But, does this sound familiar to anyone?

I wonder if it would relieve stress which has a negative effect on Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis?

I have heard about mint and positive effects on the bowels, but nothing that is scientific. If it works though, keep doing it.

From what I have read, stress can promote symptoms of CD and UC, but doesn't affect true state of inflammation/strictures. But, this could be wrong.

I have also heard of mint having a positive affect on the bowels, but only on therapeutic grade levels. I wonder if such a small amount could promote bowel functionality.
