When Devynn went to the pediatrician a week ago they did blood work to see if she had been exposed to chicken pox. She has never had the shot, but we were told she had been exposed a couple of months ago. The dr called back yesterday to tell me she has NOT been exposed, and she does need the shot. They want to give it to her on her next appt on June 12. BUT she has graduation on June 26 (exactly 14 days later). If your kids had the vaccination, did they react? If so, how long after the vaccine? I'm almost sure she said IF she reacts it will be 2 weeks later. If that is the case, I will put it off. There is NO way she is missing her own graduation.
Any advice? Or experiences? Thank you in advance :)

Thank you. Her ped said the reaction can be anything from fever to a few spots. I'm just worried about her getting a few spots right at graduation time.

My kids had the vaccine years ago as toddlers. Neither of them had a reaction to it. Can you put off getting the vaccine for a week or so to make sure that any possible reaction doesn't coincide with the graduation?

All three of my kids had the vaccine with no hitch whatsoever. But if I were you (O has 8th grad graduation also) I would put it off just in case. Heck! She has made it this long she can wait another week.

Enjoy graduation!

Upset mom, we are going to put it off.

crohnsinct, I said the same thing! We've waited this long... what's a few more weeks??

ChampsMom, thank you :) We are going to put it off. I will still be interested to hear how your son makes out.

Sarah has chickenpox as baby.

Younger two both has the shot in year 7 at school with no reaction.
