Alright so after speaking to several actual friends who have been on remicade,
They all had horrific things to say. Two are on Cimzia and say it works great. What is a major difference between Humira and Cimzia (bec that's also a choice), and what do you guys think?

I think the potential side effects scare the **** out of me with remicade.

I just would like more thoughts before I make this big decision.
Thank you!

Hey there. The last time my doc tried it I had a reaction to Remicade because I was given it as a kid (single doses) They think I built up antibodies. I'm currently on Cimza. I started it back in June, had no effects good or bad. About a month ago Doc added Methotrexate, still no effects good or bad.

From what I understand, side effects were pretty similar between the two. Remicade you have an infusion once or twice a month. Cimza you inject yourself once or twice a month. My understanding is that Remicade is usually preferable and patients have a higher remission rate than Cimza, that's why docs usually want to try it first and Cimza is one of the last they try.

...you may want to re-post your thread in the Cimza or Remicade sub-forums for more replies. Good luck!

Personally, I would go with Remicade. It is the best drug for IBD, hands down. Yes, there are some scary side-effects, but they are very unlikely. Also, Cimzia has many of the same side effects and hasn't been proven to be quite as effective. Cimzia is a good option to keep in your pocket, in case other drugs don't work, but I would start with Remicade or Humira first. That's just my opinion, though. And whatever you choose, I sincerely hope that it helps you and gives you remission.

Remicade has been studied and used the most. I was on Cimzia and it helped with inflammation and strictures but not absecesses and fistula and now I'm on Remicade.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have been on all three of these meds, and most definitely felt the best on Remicade. Humira was also pretty good.

Ive been on remicade 2 different times. No bad reactions no side effects. It was my miracle the first time, im hoping itll be the same this time round too... dont believe everything u hear everyone is different just like their disease

I tried Cimzia first and it worked for only one year. I then switched to Remicade and have been in remission since Sept. 2011.

Cimzia was good for me at first with no side effects. Remicade is good for me but I have had inflammation of the hair follicles as a side effect.
