Hi Everyone,

I call myself Bronzwing, because I would like to fly like one of those beautiful birds. Today I want to fly away from Crohn's.

My last colonoscopy showed active Crohn's despite Mesasal and Prednisolone for many years. In addition, my bone density is dropping, and you guessed it, out come the bigger guns. I am now trialing Puri-Nethol (mercaptopurine) increasing to 200mgs daily if I can tolerate it. I didn't have too much success with Imuran, so here is hoping. I have cold feet because I hate having to change from my present medications which keep me going apart from occassional flares. After all, what is osteoporosis between friends :yfrown:

Best wishes everyone, and I hope to talk again soon and be able to tell you that it has all been an outstanding success.:lol2: I live in hope, and thank goodness that I have a fantastic Family and Gastroenterologist.

Welcome BW!! Puri-Nethol must be a different formulation of mercap as I've never seen a dosage that high. Either that or your blood test showed an extreme capability to metabolize it. My son was on 50/25 mg alternating days for over a year. He never had problems with it but it didn't achieve full remission. Hope it works for you!! Good luck!

Hi Bronzwing and welcome! I know, it stinks always changing medication. I sure hope your new medication gets your Crohn's under control. And if it does - perhaps you won't need to change it up for many, many years! Crossing my fingers for you!
