Have anyone had scoped trough stoma? What is it like?

I have one in december, they are not going to do it in full anesthesia but give me iv drugs to numb me up. I have a loop sigmoidostomy, and they are going to scope me from both holes in my stoma, one that leads to my rectum and one that leads "up". I am really nervous. I have to do full prep too.

I would ike to hear comments. :)

I've been scoped through the stoma. Didn't require sedatives or pain meds. Not exactly what your having done but it was pretty easy.

I've had it too, once with sedation, once without. For me it was painful but it was due to the collection of fistula that were surrounding the stoma otherwise I believe it would have been pretty easy. The least I can say is that it appears to be quicker than colonoscopy (from what I can remember of them).

Haven't had it done yet but my IBD specialist wants to do one soon. I'll be interested in hearing how yours goes.

My IBD Doctor had told me before surgery he wanted to do one 6 to 8 months out. Seen him a couple weeks ago and we agreed that as long as I was having no symptoms N.A.H. was not getting any thing stuck in him. Also he was concerned about me having to prep because I have had a few bouts of dehydration since my surgery that required IV fluids to treat.

I've had a scope done through my stoma and it was a piece of cake. Even the prep wasn't that bad, although I did spend quite a bit of time just hanging over the toilet rather than emptying my bag all the time. I had IV sedation and it was fine. No pain before, during, or after.
