Colostomy question

Diagnosed with Crohns Oct 2012.
Was initially prescribed Pentasa and prednisone; told in September 2013 Crohns was in remission.
April 2014 symptoms came back with vengeance was given increased dose Pentasa and prednisone with no effect.
May put on Azathioprine, with increased prednisone with no effect,
June hospitalised for course of hydrocortisone and x4 Infliximab treatment.
July 2014 acute colonic distension: toxic megacolon, which led to removal of large colon under emergency due to perforation of the bowel. - have had end colostomy.
Sorry about big history.....
I have bloods done every few months and consultant says that all is fine, but I am still loosing weight and I feel lethargic most days, almost as if I am missing some nutrients. I eat normally but things pass through so quickly I suspect it is not being digested.
Any thoughts?

What's your colostomy output like? I'm afraid I'm only familiar with ileostomy output, but, if you can, check what the normal frequency and consistency of colostomy output is. If yours is more frequent and/or more watery than the norm, that could indicate malabsorption.

Normal output for a colostomy

The colon usually absorbs water from the waste as it moves along towards the rectum, so the consistency of output will depend on where your stoma is sited: the further along the colon, the thicker the faeces coming out of the stoma will be. ...

The bag is removed and replaced with a new one once or twice a day or as required.
