I have pain about 2 inches left of my belly button which sometimes is very very painful and others I can handle, sort of feels like its bruised or been punched. I also get a sharp pain in my right shoulder, then about an hour later I end up with a stomach ache. I've had blood on the toilet paper after wiping for a long time and never thought anything of it until deciding to google about the pains, I go very hot and feel sick and dizzy too. I have cancer in my family but not crohns disease but don't think that is what this is. Keeping my options open at the minute, booking an appointment to see DR, just want some advise on what to expect.
Can someone please give any advice?

When I had my first Dr visit, I discussed my symptoms with him and he did an anal probe to confirm blood. He sent me him with a stool sample kit to check for bacterial infection. That came back negative so about a week later he scheduled a colonoscopy. The colonoscopy confirmed crohn's and I started on the maintenance drugs. That's my experience getting diagnosed.

Welcome to the forum, Hunter. I'm sorry about the pains and bleeding. I really hope your doc can pinpoint what's causing it. Are you going to visit a gastroenterologist?

We have a large group of people here who are undiagnosed and searching for answers like yourself. They may have some ideas and advice for you here. http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=75

I hope you feel alright soon. Hang in there!

I spoke with a drug trial nurse about the presance and amount of blood being passed(I was on a drug trial and passing large amounts of blood) At first she was not impressed but then became concerned, did an anal exams for hemerroids and to see if there was blood, came back positive for blood, no hemerroids. Sent me home with a stool sample kit to check for bacterial infections, stool didn;t grow anything. I got sent to a GI specialist spoke about posibility of UC based on pain, blood in stool and how it appeared. Colonoscopy revealed inflammation, pus and ulcers but wanted to confirm with biopsies. Disappeared. 2 ER visits later(both showed colitis) finally anemia woke the ER up, admitted to the hospital and treated right away. Disease spread wildley through my colon in a year.

My expirience is very different based on I had no insurance at the tie my symptoms presented. I was very sick and my first colonoscopy showed the presance of the disease but based on having no insurance he didn't pursue me further. Took me a year to find someone who cared enough to look at me closer..

Welcome, Hunter. I am glad you are seeing a doctor soon. Blood is not a good sign, but it isn't always a sign of something horrific. You could have internal hemorrhoids, for example. So, try not to get so worked up.

I suggest going to your appointment prepared. Have a list of symptoms and questions written down, so you don't forget anything. Also, bring someone with you if possible. Two sets of ears are better than one. Finally, if the doctor doesn't suggest, I highly recommend a flex sig or colonoscopy. These tests are the best way to see what is truly going on in there.

Good luck and keep us posted!
