So; I've been dealing with a partial obstruction or constipation for the last few months. I haven't actually been able to go to the bathroom without help; since I can remember!

Well; I finally went! I don't feel any better, and RIGHT afterwards; I vomited! Has anyone else done this? Arg! I thought I'd feel better, but nooooo....! :ybatty:

vomiting and constipation are definite signs of obstruction. When was the last time you saw your doctor? I think you should talk to your doc about this asap. Good luck.

Thanks! I was just in the hospital for four days with a possible obstruction. I am 15 weeks pregnant, so it's hard to do the normal tests to see whether or not it is. I finally had what seemed like a normal BM last night, but right afterwards vomited.

I see my GI on the 14 Nov.

Ashley, sorry you have to go through this, especially when you are pregnant. I'm sure you are already doing it, but you need to minimize the possibility of a further blockage by avoiding foods that can't digest and can basically pile up in the reduced opening in your small intestine. Foods to avoid would be green beans, broccoli, nuts of all kinds, popcorn, corn, fruit skins (apple, orange) and so forth. In fact, the closer you could get to a very soft/liquid diet, the better. But balancing all of this is the necessity of keeping your nutrition very healthy for your baby's development.

The vomiting is significant because it's a signal that your digestive tract is filling up, needs to empty, and chooses to empty up through your esophagus because your intestinal tract is partially blocked. I've been down that path, and it's no fun.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks toml99. I had a full obstruction last year that ended up in surgery, so I know that pain and do NOT want to go through it again! I am trying to stay on a better diet, but it's super hard. Oh, well...when I've had other obstructions; I never had a BM than vomited immediately afterwards. That's why I was asking if it could be something else, but it doesn't sound like it.

I'll echo what toml says, avoid high fiber foods and avoid collagen. Nuts, conrnflakes, broccoli, etc. You want as little fibre and collagen in you as possible to avoid fibrosis.
