Constipation & urination?

Does constipation make you have to urinate more?

I was constipated for 6 days then finally decided to down 2 cups of coffee back to back and finally was able to go
#2. Ended up making myself have to go #2 about three times - but I also ended up peeing probably 20
Times today. It was hurting my quality of life today, since I'm out of town on vacation. Just wondering if I'm developing another issue, or if this is to be expected?

Yes it can, a full bowel puts pressure on your bladder. At least it does in women, not sure if the same applies to men. But I'm not sure if that's what you're describing. When your bowel is full it presses on your bladder, so you feel the need to urinate more frequently or more urgently, but it's not going to mean you actually have more urine to get rid of. And when you do then have a bowel movement, the pressure will ease off so at that point the urge to urinate decreases again.

But the coffee you drank may have caused the increase in urination, if you don't usually drink that much in one go, though twenty times sound excessive for that. Were you passing just small amounts of urine each time?

It's been improving the past couple days. It's about a normal amount when I go but you are right in saying that it is urgent! I've never had a UTI. I'm wondering if maybe it could be that?
