SO my 8 yr old has crohn's ( main issue - constipation)
So D with Blood - but mostly constipation, urgency, stomach aches etc....

Does the constipation go away if your in remission???
Or is it something that is always there?

He is currently on methotrexate and asacol plus miralax

Thanks

i would think that the constipation would go away when in remission, but I don't have a constant constipation problem. I go back and forth with D and constipation at times.

Hi, I've just found out I'm in remission and the constipation is still there, but I'm hopeful that it will ease now the inflamation has gone :D

Hi, im a constipation chronie also, once your in remission you will go back to using the bathroom normal, unless like in my situation i was in remission but because of the year before and narrowing i had to do surgery. But if he doesnt have any narrowing he wont suffer from it

So in theory he has no narrowing( two CT's- first mild thickening- second clean)
HIs blood work is normal (sed rate CRP etc..)
He had a scope 3 weeks ago visually red - but biopsies were clean.
So technically he is in remission

His original dx was in the
esophagus
stomach
duodenum
terminal illeum
cecum.
He was on 6-MP/allopurinol, prevacid, asacol and miralax.

He just started pred taper over a week ago and MTX.

He still has constipation without miralax- he bleeds and has severe pain going.
He has daily stomach aches all day and night.
Spends 3-5 hours in the bathroom a night.
Plus feels like he has to "Go" all day and night.
ALso chronic vomiting every two - three weeks.

No one can tell us why if everything is "normal" again.
