could they have missed something?

could a sed rate and cbc test show a false negative for a flare?

Hi Bry,
In my case, my ESR and CRP are never raised. My gastro has now stopped asking for them to be checked as it is pointless.
I think you may well find that there are a few of us on here, that rarely or sometimes never have any raised inflammation markers in our blood.

I agree with welsh bird, everyone is different. I have been sick as a dog and blood work looked fine....and I have been not so ill, and blood work looked terrible. Good luck

thank you ive never shown any inflamation in my blood tests but ive had swollen joints and ligaments andevery now and then there will be blood...makes me think that they are missing something blm and welsh what do they use to check for inflamtion with you guys?

Bry, for me they go by the symptoms I present. Can usually tell thing's are going a bit haywire by the increase in BM's, bleeding or not, and much like you, the aching joints. I'm quite lucky in that my Gastro says that I know my body far better than him, and then we agree on a treatment plan. I've had a flexi sig as well just to progress check the healing- quick and painless, and can see exactly what's going on.
Hope you're feeling better soon
Andrea

thank you welsh since ive been with my gi ive never had a colonoscopy or anything like that he prefers ultrasounds and ct scans and blood tests but only cts and ultrasounds when he thinks something is wrong never just for a regular exam hmmmm...maybe i should talk with my doc

Wahhhhhhhhhh????? Ultrasounds and CT scans only? There are so many other tests out there. Sounds like he's in it for the money cause I believe those tests are more expensive. Certainly more expensive than a barium swallow. :p

Any chance you could see another GI doc? It can take a while to find a good one and sadly many out there are just in it for the money and are flipping patients (take on more patients than they can handle and don't give any of them the time and care they deserve).

And ya for some people Crohn's affects other parts of the body more than it affects their guts (like the skin, joints etc.) or that's how some people know they are having a flare but usually have a colonoscopy done at least to see what's happening inside. If you're still feeling like crap, then either keep pushing the GI for results or try to find another one (honestly I would suggest both as it can take some time to find another one).

well i really like him he was reccomended by the mayo clinic hes my second doc i don't think hes in it for the money though...hmm well the ct scan was to check for lymphoma and to be quite honest since ive been with this doc i haven't had a known flare like the usual symptoms blood and such just occasional aches and pains and now constipation i had the ultrasound done because i was have really bad d and stomach aches along with it and nausia but nothing that any doc could see said i was having a flare(my mom took me to a hospital) so my doc checked to see if i had kidney stones and decided it was stomach migranes and he put me on nexium and that worked i called him about the recent constipation and he put me on miralax and that has worked
