Hi Kathy
I'm so sorry to hear your little angel is not well, unfortunately the nature of crohns in to reappear when you least expect it, I was dx age 11 and I remember many occasions as a child when family holidays would be a time of uncertainty but the good thing about children is they are stronger than they are given credit for. It is good that you have an app with her consultant this week, is there an IBD nurse in the hospital that she attends? they can be a great source of information and support if you can't get an app straight away. The other good thing is that treatment has come a long way since I was dx and it maybe a case of changing her meds and even combining meds to achieve remission for longer lengths of time. Have you made a crohn's diary detailing food/fluid intake/ BM's / even sleep or lack of. all this information combined can help you to identify any triggers. 25 years later and I'm still learning, for instance I discovered certain types of potatoes (discussed in another thread) and how they are cooked can have a huge impact on my health, I can't eat anything cooked in animal fat, I'm sure you are watching what Amy eats like a hawk but my poor mum thought as I did for years sure what could a potato do and let me tell you ALOT!!! So even the most innocent foods could be irritating Amy.
You are a great woman, like my mum you are a rock for your child and if it wasn't for my mum constantly searching for answers and asking all the questions I wouldn't be where I am today.
Take care and I hope Amy feels better soon.

Kathy - sorry you're having a rough time. On the azathioprine.....it takes about 3 months to get to a therapeutic level. How long has she been on it? And is she on steroids or anything to deal with the immediate flare? Bless your heart...... It's good that you are seeing the doc right away.

I think a vacation sounds perfect. It's far enough away that everything will be settled down. Y then.

Hugs,

J.

Sorry to hear about Amy's flare. Maybe the Aza hasn't had a chance to be working fully? Could she go onto a short course of Pred to see her through a couple of weeks and ease the inflammation? If she is willing to have complete EN, then I would think that would be good for her (don't think my son would do it again). Hope you get some help for her soon!

Sorry to her about her flare. It certainly can't hurt to put her back on the modulen but I would call her doctor and speak with them and tell them what is going on and see what they want you to do until they see her on Thursday.

I hope all goes well with the appointment today hun...

Hopefully they will able to nip things in the bud again and all will be well for the holiday. Fingers and everything else crossed!

The doc may suggest going back to full EN or he may want to move to a steroid. I see diagnosis was in April so she should be starting to approach therapeutic levels of Aza but may not be quite there yet, particularly if she is one of the ones that takes a little longer than the minimum three months.

Let us know how you get on!
