crohns rears its ugly head yet again...

Hi all, my names gavin and i live in east sussex england, i have an ileostomy and have done for over 12 yrs now, havent really had any problems up until 7 or 8 months ago, a lump mysteriously appeared next to my stoma, over the space of a week it got bigger then finally popped leaving what the doctor told me was a fistula, then another appeared on the opposite side and went through the same process, this was extremely painful and by this time foetal secretion had started and infection had set in,i started on a course of augmentin antibiotics, which never really cleared it up, just kept it at bay really, i have discussed surgery with my specialist and he thinks that the crohns has returned and that surgery is the only way forward, this scares me slightly as i never thought that i would be back under the knife again, i thought that after having the original op that was it for life, i heard that its possible to have key hole for this procedure, which is moving it from the right side to the left, cleaning the fistulas up as they go, i hope this is true, also i had to come off augmentin as i was taking it for over 4 weeks and that in itself can cause lots of problems, i have just started a course of herbal antibiotics called echinacea which i hope works as well, is there anyone out there had the same or similar expierience as me >>??????

Welcome Gavin! Sorry I can't help but you may try looking through the Stoma sub-forum. It's under the General IBD Discussion section. Good luck!
