Just thought i would share my experience. On monday 21st of sept. I had 2ft of my small intestine removed at the illieum back, i also had 2 fistula with abscess, 1 was from the small intestine to the bladder with an abscess, which required repair and removal of a portion of my bladder, and a second fistula from small intestine to the colon, which required repair and removal of a portion of the colon. Surgery was 6 hrs and speaking with the surgeon, he uses the word impressive to describe the surgery as well as my situation. I was extremely lucky and and EXTREMEMLY SICK inside my body for the last 5+ yrs, causing me great pain and discomfort when eating, and or having to pass my bowels as well as any time in need of urinating. The post op pain is pretty bad, but i do feel different already. This is going to be a very difficult recovery for me. I would not wish this on anyone, maybe an ex who fucqed me over royally, but i dont even think i would do that...

I truly hope recovery is quick. It sounds like fairly serious surgery, glad you have it behind you.

Ya, the doc used the word impressive when describing both the surgery and the actual condition of my insides and moreover the fact that i qas actually qalking around for about 5 yrs like that. I was basically a ticking time bomb on 2 feet. I genuinely feel blessed that I met this surgeon as I honestly was beginning to give up hope that I would ever feel right again, let alone be able to pee or poop normally ever again as well as be able to ever enjoy earing food without feeling like a demon was possessed in my insides. The amount of chronic pain over the past 5 yrs was enough to have me contemplate suicide quite regularly. I know it sounds super dramatic, but I went so far as to write my name on the bullet, so that i actually had a bullet with my name on it. But, even though the post op pain was and is quite painful, i do have a feeling of hope and feel as though there is a light at the end of the tunnel and im actually willing to work at getting there now. I am already eating just about everything besides hi fiber foods such as raw fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, wtc the common flare foods to avoid. And althougj my bowels arent normal yet. I am moving much better than prior to surgery. Total 180 defree flip on my biew on life. Thx for the post as i am glad to have it behind me, and it was quite serious, there was a much greater chance at bad things occuring at the outcome, being as i was 110lbs, just barely within the scope of acceptable body mass index to be approved for surgery.

Well I'm glad that your hope has been restored with surgery!

Before my son's surgery They had him on EN by nasogastric tube because he had reached failure to thrive so he needed the weight for surgery. When they performed the surgery he was at 125 lbs which is the most he has weighed. He lost the weight after stopping the EN and has now settled at around 110-115lbs so still fairly thin.

When i was healthy, back in jan 2011, i weighed 155lbs, after my surgery i was 101lbs, and when discharged/now, i am only 103 lbs. Doc said could be about 2-3 months before I am actually able to put on some weight. Absolutely none of my clothes fit now, they did not fit before, but this is on a whole new level. Ive been roughly 118lbs the last 5 yrs, except i got a cold in jan and dropped down to 110 and was never able to get it back. God this is such a scary disease, especially when its as aggressive and severe as mine has been described to me. I know not everone has aggressive and severe forms of crohns. My father has had crohns for over 20 yrs, but has had it in eemission, so i didnt think anything of it when i was diagnosed, then it was like someone drove a car bomb into my gut.
