hi,

i wonder if anyone can give me advice i was diagnosed with Crohn's about 6 years ago, and i have been on many different treatments i went on the modulen diets, methotrexate, infliximab, and i am now currently on adalimumab, and these are just a few i can remember, i had a dexa scan about 4 years ago which said that my bone density was about 10% under the normal, and about 10 months ago a routine blood test came back saying that i was very vitamin d deficient to the point that i could develop rickets or osteomalacia, and i recently went to the dentist after having pain in my front tooth and he did a complete check up and said that my teeth aren't very good i explained my health problem and he didnt say much about it, and he just told me that obviously im doing something wrong and i need to take better care of my teeth, and i do try very hard to keep my teeth in very good condition and im just wondering is it my fault or could the crohns or some of my treatment be the cause?

Your crohn's and osteopenia can definitely contribute to enamel and tooth bone loss. I'm part of that club. My dentist mandates I use fluoride toothpaste and may even switch me to high fluoride.

Are you supplementing with vitamin D3? How is your calcium level?

It's totally not your fault, all you can do is continue brushing and flossing and trying to up your vitamin levels.

thanks for the response, i'm currently not supplementing with vitamin D3, and i believe my calcium levels are fairly low.
