I hope its ok to post this here, if not I apologize and one of the mods can delete.

My 11 year old daughter Devynn is doing a walk for Crohn's and Colitis research on June 9th. She was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in Dec of 2009. That diagnosis was changed to Ulcerative Colits in Mar of 2012, though I believe it will be changed back to Crohn's disease. Last year was our first walk. She set her goal at $500 and raised $609! She has set her goal at $500 again this year.
She has had health problems since she was about 18 mos old and it was always a *virus*. It wasn't until she got really sick in May of 2009 and the doctor who took care of her at the hosp sent her to The Hospital for Sick Children to a gastroenterologist. They did a colonoscopy and endoscopy in Oct of 2009 and found out that she has inflammatory bowel disease. She has gone through a lot and would love to help raise money to find a cure, so other kids like her and adults would never have to go through what she has gone through. We were lucky enough to reach remission in Nov of 2012, but after some stress at school (bullying) she is in another flare which is very painful.
No amount is too little, every single dollar helps. Thank you :)

We're doing it too. Hoping it will stop snowing by June!

Good luck to Devynn!

We are considering doing it next year (I believe the Orlando walk has already passed). I'd love to hear more about it....what the event is like and such. Did you organize a team?

That's wonderful! Ev is doing his walk this Saturday in Austin. He was selected as the honored hero and has spent the past few weeks giving talks and sharing his story. I think that has helped him so much.

He's team captain of "I hate Evan's guts" :)

S mom, is this his first year? This is Devynn's second year.

Mehita, its BEAUTIFUL out here today!

Dancemom, we sign her up as a team, and her siblings and I (and her uncle this year) walk with her. Last year was our first year. They had some things for the kids (bouncy castles etc) and live music, food.. snow cones etc. She had a LOT of fun!

Twosons, thats GREAT!! He must be so excited! lol at his team name! Devynn's is Gutsy D.

Ya this is his first year. He'd planned on trying last year but ended up getting a part time job and had to work. He's booked the day off this year so he doesn't
miss it again. Not sure whether we'll register as a team so we can walk with him or if it matters.

Awesome! My son has talked about hosting a "Homerun Derby" or an Ice Hockey "Shoot out" to raise money and apply it towards his Eagle Scout project... I love that our kids think about giving back!!

Jack is also walking this will be our 4th time. He was the honored hero last year. Our walk is June 1st and just had a call asking him to do an interview with the TV station on the 30th. Our team name is Jack's Party Poopers. Love that everyone is getting out there and raising awareness

S mom, thats great! I don't think it matters really.

Shell, thats GREAT!

Jacqui, Is he excited? I remember he was the honored hero last year. Love the team name!! I love that people are getting out raising awareness too.

Josh and I are doing a sponsored walk for crohns and colitis for NACC this Sunday at Rutland Water in the UK. We have done this every year since he was diagnoised, so this will our 3rd time. Other years we have walked round York, but decided on a change this year.
Sunday here is forecast to be really nice, so we are looking forward to it again. I will see if I can post photos when we are done [ don't hold your breathe, I am not very technical :) ]

It is so great that so many of these kids want to give back and help raise money for research! What a fantastic group of kids!

we have two local walks through the Ccfa...we love them! Isabelle is the honored hero at one of them as well this year.I highly recommend them.

We have a little over two weeks until our walk. Devynn just found out her uncle is walking with us! She's very excited.

We have our walk this weekend! Jack is doing a TV interview today at noon. So 2 finals this morning (History & math) and off to the TV station. Last day of school tomorrow. Been cold last few days but supposed to be mid-high 70's on saturday _ Perfect walking weather

Yup, June 9th :) I've been so impressed with teachers and friends sponsoring him too - so nice of everyone to show their support!
