Most of us have heard that there is a link between Accutane and IBD. I'm curious, did you ever take Accutane?

I personally did about 12 years ago now. One vote for YES.

Nope, I never had an acne problem, however my daughter does and told her to tell her doctor NO accutane...she is aware of it.

I was on Accutane twice, with the latest round being about 20 years before my guts went nuts. With that long a delay, causality seems unlikely, but not impossible. An interesting aspect of the Accutane connection is that most people who have taken it for acne have also taken a wide array of antibiotics for the condition as well, I know I did, which can also have IBD implications.

I never took Accutane, but I used Tazorac. As I understand it most acne products are retinoids? (However Accutane is a pill? I used a gel).

I have heard that they are beginning to think it's actually antibiotic use (which often correlates with Accutane use). I never took antibiotics for acne, but I did take them for infections growing up. It's an interesting thing to think about, but there doesn't seem to be *too much* merit at this point.

No, but I wish I had considering they have adds on how to collect money for the damages. I never needed it. My CD is probably all genetic.

I did, and don't think it was what gave me crohn's, but I do believe it was one of many contributing factors including antibiotic use, consuming milk and dairy (look it up, there is a lot of evidence linking the two) and a lot of other things.

I asked my GI about these lawsuits, and he said they are frivolous at best, but he also told me that food has no effect on crohn's, and probiotics are a waste of money. lol!! So I dont really believe that.

Yes I took accutane about 30 years ago when the drug was new on the market.
It may have been about 1 yr. after I was diagnosed.
