Hi all,

4 years with crohns and it's triggered when I eat fried foods or changes in seasons.....fall, winter and spring....joint pains are the worst....essentially like arthritis. Its not fun, but managing to live with it. Mild case with never any stomach pains, but my doc won't listen to diet, but just likes to prescribe meds. Anyone have long term success by simply changing diet and loading up on probiotics? I'd rather change diet then take meds. Also anyone look into stem cell research with cord blood?

Thoughts.....? Anthony

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I do know some here have done very well using diet, I have seen mention of enteral nutrition, the Paleo (sp?) diet and the SCD diet to name a few. Do check out our diet and sups forum for further info in this area: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17.

With regards to stem cell check out our treatment section as there is mention of this there: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16.

I take it at the moment you are not on meds? Out of interest have you have had a full vitamin level check done at all?

Dr. Bogdanov of Bulgaria did a study on probiotics in 1950s and earlier studies were done in 1900s regarding their use and improvement on health. Additionally, look into studies on ingestion of PURE yogurt on a daily basis. Fascinating reading. I have seen my health greatly improve with daily supplementation of probiotics (must have certain strains of bacteria in it). Always learning...good luck!
