So Lucy had her last infliximab infusion 4 weeks ago and GI stopped 6 mp 4 weeks ago too. She is now due to start humira and methotrexate, but as she hasn't had an immunosuppressive drug for four weeks I have a very slight window of opportunity to give her mmr(measles mumps rubella) booster vaccination, this would mean delaying the new regime for four weeks after the vaccination. GI is happy either way, however may be humouring me!
The dilemma is that I think she is getting worse and I don't know that I can delay her treatment for 4 weeks but on the other hand may not get an opportunity to vaccinate. Anybody been there and what did u do
Thanks polly

:yrolleyes:That is a bit of a pickle your in. I have NO idea. All I can do is send hugs and prayers.:ghug:

I would give mmr .
You have the window
Since she had remi 4 weeks ago she would still have some in her system at least for a good bit ( surprised Gi would even let you get it ???)
But if they are ok with it I am all for giving our kids
And keeping them up to date as possible
Good luck

Due to the current measles outbreak in the Uk I would give MMR. What a hard decision.

I think I would also give the MMR. I don't know why. That was just my intuitive response after reading your post.

I guess it comes down to whether it would be worse to have flare symptoms for four weeks or to contract the measles while on Humira. I think the latter would be worse, no?

For what it's worth I would also go with the MMR it's such a hard decision to make but at least she will be safe from 3 nasty illnesses for life. Feel for you, it's one difficult decision after another. Good luck.

I agree, the current measles outbreak in UK has raised the issue of low vaccination levels for MMR. Which does increase the chances they'll be more outbreaks of these diseases.

What kind of symptoms is she starting to show? Could she use EEN to stave them off in the interem?

It is a difficult one - on one hand I would be much happier if she had the booster when she starts school - the Wakefield research had a big impact in Ireland and lots if people didn't give the mmr so it is probably only a matter of time before there is an outbreak here and I know of at least one family who haven't vaccinated. On the other hand her bum is so bad at the moment and getting worse by the day - will ask GI about een but something is telling me that it's not advocated in perianal disease. Thanks so much for your input hubby and I have decided to give her the booster because as somebody said getting measles while on a biological really would be worse case scenario

Think you've made the right decision!

Starting school without the booster is such a risk. Hope her symptoms ease off.

(((hugs))) :ghug:
