Discontinuing Imuran and staying on Remicade

The Dr. suggested this week that since our son is doing so well and considered in remission since January 2014 that we try to take him off of the Imuran (that he has been on for almost two years, when diagnosed) and just do Remicade infusions solely. I am a little nervous, but the Dr. stated that we can restart Imuran if it doesn't work. Has anyone had luck with this? Imuran alone did not work and so MAYBE it's been the Remicade all along that has been the drug for us. :confused2:

Like your doctor said, your son can always restart Imuran if need be!

Also, when I was on Remicade originally I was on it without additional immunosuppressants and it seemed fine. I know it's not exactly the same, but now I'm on another biologic, Humira, and I was on that with Imuran as well. I've since stopped taking the Imuran and have been on Humira without any problems!
