Yes, I know ... that sounded very strange. :ylol2:

What I mean is,do you ever get a huge tub of buttered popcorn (or whatever, something you love and adore but that you KNOW will leave you in agony later) and proceed to pop it in your mouth, savour chewing all that flavor and goodness and then spit the **** out without swallowing? There's probably a name for it, something on the lines of anorexia or bulimia, but I can't find mention of it.

Anyway, maybe I'm the only odd ball around who craves doing things like that; but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. :)

I've done this... :)

Only when I flare, though, because I know the food will cause me pain but I need to taste something delicious... I don't know that the term would be for that, though...

Ok, good ~ I was thinking that I might be alone on the edge of some rare and lonely food-psychosis thing-y. Thanks for sharing!!!

Ha! I haven't heard of this before! Maybe I should do that with the unopened box of microwaveable popcorn in my cupboard. Hehehe...:p

I've done it a few times. You get the flavor, but the satisfaction is definitely not complete. The coitus interruptus of dining...

i've done this with fresh oranges, because i love the taste of them, and appreciate how good the vitamin C is from fresh citrus fruit, but i know if i swallowed the fleshy and stringy bits, i'd be trouble. i suppose i could just squeeze the orange huh? lol

Hey if I am going to go through all that process I am going to eat it LOL. Most of my danger foods, my husband doesnt like, he doesnt like cakes, cookies or sweets. My daughter is sorta on her own, so I do not buy risky stuff, therefore no temptation. ;)

I think there would be too much temptation for me to actually eat it. Like Jetta, I just don't buy no-no food, so if it's not in the house I don't think about it. My husband likes sweets but I never really ate them before I got sick.

I couldn't live without sweets. Candy is like the top of my food pyramid. It's amazing my girlfriend and I are not fat with all of the candy we consume and have around the house at all times.

What kind of candy do you like CrohnsHobo? My hubby and I are addicted to this certain brand of bubble-gum, we get a bag and chew it all day.

All of it!

But on my desk at work I have a Darth Vader candy jar that I keep filled with peppermint butter mints. I looovee peppermint.

I also love frozen Butterfingers and Kit Kats. Melon Hi-Chews. Peppermint Patties. Smarties.

and then just about any other candy under the sun. Those are just the regular culprits.

Mmmm peppermint patties. I miss those. I hope I can find some sort of vegan alternative to those.

Google 'Vegan Peppermint Patties' lots of recipes that look fairly simple.

"Chew & Spit"? Honestly???? Wow; someone put a while lot of effort into coming up with that one, eh? It could at least have been in Latin, lol.

interesting topic. Kinda reminds me of that article about the guy going nuts on TPN and mushing up desert with his hands! :lol2:

But no I never did this even when I was on a liquid diet for three solid months. I have dealt with a few (ahem) addiction related problems and I seem to have developed the ability to do without. But I would not want to put myself in the situation of wanting something so bad I had to spit it out. Maybe it is just carry over from having to work hard at zero tolerance in the past.

To be honest I don't think I'd have the will power to do this! I'd rather just not have it!

But then my main one would be chocolate and I guess that would melt and have to be swallowed anyway...

It's too much hassle! Haha.

I just saw this on a rerun of Sex and the City...the guy would chew his steak and then spit it into his napkin. I've never done it myself, I'm too much of a pig to spit my food out...lol What can I say, I love to eat!!

Nyx, me too! Ha. It would drive me crazy to have food in my mouth if I'm hungry. WAY too tempting.

Chewing gum is bad enough.

I have to admit.... I did this this weekend with POPCORN! Had to taste it but I knew I could never actually eat it!
