Hi I've just been recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and I was wondering do you ever go back to normal (like before the disease) when in remission I.e having a normal poo with no blood and not going 4 times a day?

Many people go into deep remission for weeks, months and even years. I know people with no pain, normal BM's who have the illness but have been in deep remission for years. The main thing though is if now you are flaring, to focus on proper treatment.

I've had it for 7+ years since I was 14, and i've never gone back to 'normal', i've been in remission where things have been fine, but still in the back of my mind I still worry about being close to a loo, eating the right things etc.
I think we learn to adapt instead and make the best of things, and just power through when bad flare ups happen.

I have Crohn's for about 13 years and have never had a "remissive" period. It's seems to always be something, but my brother who also has the disease has achieved remission several times for up to a couple of years each.
