As I meet more people in "real life" with IBD, I am observing that a significant percentage have Angular Cheilitis. What is that exactly? This:

Various B vitamin deficiencies can cause Angular Cheilitis. Do you have it, have you had it, and if you had it, how did you get rid of it?

I didnt know that was a thing? I had that a long time ago. I guess it went away when I started taking vitamins and getting b12 shots.

i have this right now as we speak. i always get abnormally red chapped lips (it looks as if i am wearing red lipstick) and whenever my lips are chapped i get something that looks very similart to this so i am just assuming it's the same as angular cheilitis

My son got that all the time before he was diagnosed. His Peds Dr. prescribed a liquid call nystatin to apply several times a day. She said it was yeast. This was before he was diagnosed with Crohn's but I do now think it is a symptom of Crohn's. The nystatin always worked right away when nothing else would.

I got this once when I was a kid. I recall my father telling me it was a vitamin deficiency and he gave me an extra vitamin every morning. I don't think I've had it since then.

I had it on and off all during my first year long flare. It's cleared up along with my other symptoms since I started on the Remi and I think it's cos I'm eating and absorbing better without the inflammation.

I used to get them now and again when I was younger but I get them all the time now and find them painful. A chemist once told me to "let it dry out" which just made it worse. Another suggested vaseline which worked quite well. I've now got antibiotic cream for when they get really bad, but it still takes agaes to heal. Just my two pence worth :)

Xxx

So I've been dealing with this problem since childhood. Dermatitis is an issue in my family, and the eczema seems to have moved from my hands to my face.

This semester had been particularly tough for me due to stress issues. I think that's when the A.C. got completely out of hand.

I freaked out and tried every remedy I could, in haste. I ended up scarring my lips, and going to a doctor who prescribed me a Nystatin cream, and Desonide for night. These made the cuts go away, but not the rash and redness.

Just tonight, I'm sitting at my computer, being depressed about my A.C. and I noticed my can of antifungal powder spray with 1% tolnaftate and baking soda.

Never knew that had a name. Just thought is was part of having chap lips. Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the info
