Does anybody else have certain locations that ALWAYS trigger bowel urgency?

It seems like whenever I go into Lowe's Home Improvement here in town, whether I'm flaring or not.. I will ALWAYS feel the sudden urge to use the toilet even if I was feeling fine right up until I arrived. It usually takes 5-10 minutes to come on. I can't imagine what could cause it. Subsonic vibrations from the HVAC system? Psychosomatic conditioning?

Only recently I discovered they have a public restroom in the back. Thank goodness.

There's also a particular Target store nearby where the same thing happens. Not the one we usually go to, but the next nearest. It's weird, man.

Anybody else have a certain place that seems to "trigger" them?

I always need to go to the bathroom before and after I eat at a restaurant which isn't so bad. Also, when I am in the car, which is very annoying.

Mine used to be Border's book store-and of course they had this Nazi manager who wouldn't give up the bathroom key. I told her "Look it can happen right here on the floor or in the bathroom, but it's GONNA happen!" She hated seeing me come in lol!

Wow now that you mention it, the Border's near me used to be one of my trigger sites, too. Luckily, the bathrooms weren't locked there.

My hubby doesn't have crohns but everytime he goes into a book shop he has to go!!! Strange. Everytime I go to the clinic for an appointment I need to go but I think nerves has something to do with that!!

London for me. Been twice for mini breaks in the last two years & had torrential diarrhea both times.
I dont think I'll go back!!

It always is going to see the doctor or going to see the my gp and going to the mall to have a look around . before i go i seem like using to the washroom. but i can't because i am always constipated. so, it be anxiety.

Mine seems to be my husband going to the bathroom! We only have one bathroom in the house of course. And sometimes when my daughter goes I have to pace, too! Lol!

When I was potty training my daughter and I really wanted her to go, I could take her to McDonald's and that would work every time!

Hmm not sure about always. But probably at about a 90% rate I get cramps at Costco and any other really big (unsheltered/exposed), and/or cold stores. Certain grocery stores can do it to me too. The people I'm with make nasty comments when I have to 'sit and take a break'. They don't get it lol. Hopefully they never have to

Ok costco, sams, and the mall, and lots of mornings when I'm on my way to work, but I found a new app. for my phone that finds the closes public bathrooms. Its so cool!

HAHA YES! THIS! As soon as I hear the bathroom door shut it's like I've never had to go so bad in my life! ROFL. I think it's that panic- "if I have to go.. what do I do?!"

If you have trigger locations, I would wager it is due to the Fight or Flight Response.

Simplistically put, we evolved a response that protected us in times of danger. This was WONDERFUL in ancient times when we were out in the jungle and certain criteria triggered our Fight or Flight response because we had been in a similar situation before and a lion jumped out so we were at the ready for it again, just in case.

We still have that response so when something reminds us (this would be subconscious) of a particular situation from our past, our body enters into Fight or Flight and what we're seeing in this thread happens.

I used to get this way in grocery stores. I to this day have no idea why. What did I do to "cure" it? When I'd go into the store I'd be conscious of Fight or Flight and how my mind and body were reacting. Is my heart racing? Am I clenching muscles that I can relax? And I'd literally be telling myself, "It's ok, it's safe" over and over again and taking deep, calming breaths. It took awhile to rewire that neural pathway, but I'm good now. :)
